Congratulations on going through your first HAIKU lesson. Did you compose a HAIKU that was short, contained a season word and that leaves a lingering message? Do you think others will understand it? The student poets above also had only one lesson. These Japanese Junior High students voluntarily write in English to pen pals in Canada.
Our club, E.S.S. English Speaking Society, would like to communicate with you and exchange ideas and share cultures. We are based in Aiko Junior and Senior High School in Matsuyama, Japan. Aiko is a high caliber private Catholic school that has established relations with several schools in Canada. We would like to be your key to Japanese culture. We hope you will be our key to your culture. At first we would exchange letters and HAIKU in English or Japanese. If interest continues we could plan other international events to meet our goal of mixing fun activities and good humor with school work. In 1993 our E.S.S. club studied about foreign countries, played survival games, wrote HAIKU, invited Canadian, American and Spanish teachers and priests to talk with us, and organized activities at our school's culture day. We also planned lunches and exchanged visits with other E.S.S. clubs in Matsuyama.
Please consider our offer and write to us.
